Call for Student Artists: The Recology Artstart Student Hub (TRASH)

The Recology Artstart Student Hub (TRASH) is a unique opportunity for student artists in Sonoma and Marin counties to expand their existing creative practice by working with materials that would have otherwise gone to the landfill to create an impactful body of work. Inspired by Recology’s Artist in Residence Program in San Francisco, TRASH encourages the conservation of natural resources while inspiring artists and art viewers to think about habits of consumption, waste disposal, and sustainability.

TRASH is a juried program that will select five student artists (age 15-25) for the Summer art residency.

Those selected will have access to the Recology Materials Recovery Facility in Santa Rosa, and using the trash collected, they will create a  body of artwork. At the conclusion of the program, the artwork will be shown in various exhibitions and public venues that serve to promote the artists, as well as the importance of reuse and recycling for our planet.

Applications accepted through May 2nd. Learn more: https://www.artstart.us/trash
