Reusable Foodware Pilot Program at the Thursday Civic Center Farmers' Market

Zero Waste Marin is excited to announce the launch of a pilot program to bring reusable foodware to the Thursday Civic Center Farmers’ Market! In collaboration with the Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM) and Sparkl Reusables, this program will work with prepared food vendors at the Thursday Farmers’ Market to provide reusable options when ordering food and drinks.

This program reduces waste by replacing non-recyclable and non-compostable single-use items, such as paper coffee cups, with sustainable alternatives.

How does the program work?:

  1. Request Reusable Items – Customers can order their food or beverage in a Sparkl reusable container from participating vendors.
  2. Return Used Items – Drop off the used containers at designated collection stations located throughout the market.
  3. Visit the Sparkl Booth – Stop by the Sparkl booth for more information or to retrieve your deposit (if applicable).

Participating food and beverage businesses in the pilot include: Kinoko, Rozmary Kitchen, Porchetta Toscana/Pibil, Mr. Dim Sum, Wanna’s Kitchen, La Esperanza Pupuseria, Zolo Coffee, & Myriad Coffee Roasters.

The pilot program will run from January – March at the Thursday Civic Center Farmers’ Market, and then will be assessed to determine if it will become a permanent program.
