The recruitment for one temporary, part-time intern position has closed. The position will be from late August to June 15, 2020. The position is flexible and will focus primarily on the Zero Waste Schools Program but will include planning and implementation of other Zero Waste initiatives. We are currently in Phase Two of the recruitment process. Phase Three will be in person interviews.

ExtraFood picks up excess fresh food from businesses & organizations and immediately delivers it to nonprofits serving Marin’s most vulnerable children, adults, and families.

The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of ExtraFood’s food recovery program, including relationship management with operational representatives at food donor and recipient organizations, volunteer program management, food trip scheduling, food safety practices, and spontaneous donation assignment. This is a full-time non-exempt position, initially home-based and ultimately office-based. For more information, please click here.

Free Film Screening: The Clean Bin Project

Join the City of San Rafael’s Green Initiatives on June 15th from 7-9 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael for a free screening of The Clean Bin Project, which follows the year-long journey of partners Jen and Grant as they compete to see who can avoid buying any stuff and produce the least amount of trash! Zero Waste Schools Contract – CLOSED

Based on the Support for Zero Waste in Marin Schools 2015 Report (ESA_School Report Final_with Appendices) created by Environmental Science Associates for the JPA, the Marin County Hazardous and Solid Waste Management Joint Powers Authority (JPA) is soliciting proposals from firms who have experience in working with schools on implementing waste reduction programs. The intent of this RFP is to solicit proposals from qualified organizations to implement the Zero Waste Schools Program at select schools throughout Marin County in coordination with the contract manager. The contractor will implement the program, track data, and prepare diversion reports for each school and provide an end of contract summary report.

Currently $60,000 is budgeted for this 2016-2017 school year project.
