Why Battery Recycling Matters

Icon: flame in a circle for fire danger

Prevent Fires

Lithium batteries can spark and ignite when damaged, crushed, or improperly disposed of. As more batteries are used in phones, tools, e-bikes, scooters, and other rechargeable devices, proper recycling is more important than ever.

Protect People and the Environment

Batteries contain materials that require special handling and should never be placed in trash, recycling, or organics carts. Recycling helps protect workers, equipment, and the environment.
